ACA Standards of Practice for
Pharmacy Marketer
ACA Pharmacy Marketer Members must adhere to the Standards of Practice for the American College of Apothecaries. These standards are considered practice ideals and should be pursued by all ACA Members.
Standard 1
The pharmacy marketer should be able to provide a reference of at least one ACA Fellow or Member in good standing.
Standard 2
The pharmacy marketer should be an employee (W-2 or 1099) of a pharmacy in good standing with ACA.
Standard 3
The pharmacy marketer will have a broad knowledge of pharmacy practice.
Standard 4
The pharmacy marketer will grow their knowledge base by attending appropriate continuing education courses designed for marketers. ACA provides numerous ACPE accredited continuing educational activities including live and on-demand webinars, legislative updates, and ACA annual or regional conferences. Standard 5
The pharmacy marketer will not be involved in agreements which provide financial incentives to prescribers to refer patients for services.
Standard 6
The pharmacy marketer will have a broad knowledge of FDA compliance guidelines and regulations related to the marketing of pharmaceutical products and services. They will not be involved in marketing activities that will place the ACA pharmacy for which they are providing services in a position of non-compliance with these guidelines and/or regulations.
Standard 7
A proper professional image shall be presented by the pharmacy marketer to potential prescribers and vendors. This image shall include neat and professional attire.
