Becoming a Men’s Health Resource for Your Patients

Description:
This session will equip healthcare professionals with practical knowledge to confidently serve as a trusted resource for men’s health concerns, with a primary focus on testosterone therapy. Topics will include an overview of testosterone physiology, production, and age-related decline, as well as common signs and symptoms of low testosterone. Attendees will review appropriate testing parameters, interpretation of laboratory values, and evidence-based treatment options.

The program will also examine current clinical data, including recent studies addressing cardiovascular safety and prostate cancer concerns associated with testosterone therapy. Practical guidance on patient selection, screening and monitoring, counseling, and ongoing management will be discussed to support safe and effective clinical decision-making.

Bruce Biundo, RPh, FACA, joined PCCA in 1997, transitioning from a substitute consultant to a full-time role, where he served for 24 years until his retirement in December 2021. At PCCA, he supported members with formulary and clinical questions, presented continuing education programs, and became a recognized expert in men’s hormone replacement therapy. His contributions were honored with PCCA’s Employee of the Year Award in 2015 and the Eagle Award in 2021. He also developed and authored a comprehensive 15-hour continuing education course in men’s health.

Bruce co-developed multiple patents, published in peer-reviewed journals including Pharmaceutics and the International Journal of Pharmaceutical Compounding, and served as a section editor for the 22nd edition of Remington: The Science and Practice of Pharmacy. A Fellow of the American College of Apothecaries, he has been active in leadership roles with the Texas Pharmacy Association and related organizations, earning TPA’s Education Excellence Award (2008) and Pharmacist of the Year (2013).
